Solid-State Transformer-Based DC Power Distribution Network for Shipboard Applications

Due to simplicity, efficiency, and the ability accommodate energy storage devices, DC distribution networks have been seen as an optimal alternative AC networks, especially aboard future electric ships. The emerging system entails new control management techniques. Therefore, integrated power network ship is selected case study in this paper. To meet requirements of such a large-scale mobile system, multiport solid-state transformer (SST) based on silicon carbide (SiC) switches/MOSFETs proposed. Thus, embodiment can significantly be reduced. Moreover, at level, high penetration renewable generation with allowed six-phase asymmetrical induction machine (IM) directly integrated. Simulations conducted 2 MW shipboard network. effects propulsion dynamics SST are highlighted well. Finally, kW lab-scale prototype has implemented validate theoretical findings.
